PORT SHELDON TOWNSHIP, MI – On Wednesday August 15th, 2018, at 8:21AM, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to Windsnest Park in Port Sheldon Township of Ottawa County in regards to a water rescue.
Initial reports stated a man was last seen in the water approximately 3 minutes prior to the 911 call. He had been swimming in Lake Michigan about 20 feet out from the beach at Winds Nest Park at which time he was seen going under water.
Ottawa County Sheriff’s deputies along with Port Sheldon Twp Fire/Rescue responded to the scene and began searching the waters. The victim was located shortly after arrival under water and transported to Holland Hospital by NOCH EMS in critical condition.
The name of the subject is being withheld at this time pending notification of family. The incident remains under investigation.
