NORTH BRANCH, MI – On Friday August 17th, 2018, at 1:31 PM, Lapeer County 911 dispatched Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies to a single vehicle injury traffic crash upon Snoblin Road east of Jones Road in North Branch (Lapeer County’s North Branch Township).
A 16 year old boy from North Branch was driving a 2004 GMC Envoy eastbound on Snoblin Road. The vehicle lost stability and departed the right (south side) of the roadway. The vehicle eventually struck a tree upon the driver’s side front. The vehicle rotated before coming to rest along the south shoulder of the roadway. The driver and his 16 year old female passenger from Clifford were trapped within the wreckage. North Branch and Deerfield Fire Departments extricated the occupants.
Both individuals were transported to McLaren- Lapeer Region and listed in serious but stable condition.
The preliminary investigation suggested that alcohol is not a factor. The Lapeer County Sheriff’s Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit is conducting a speed analysis to determine if that played a role.
The roadway was closed for several hours for rescue and investigative purposes.
Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies were assisted at the scene by North Branch Fire Department, Deerfield Township Fire and Rescue, Lapeer County EMS Ambulance Service, and the Michigan State Police Lapeer Regional Post.
This traffic crash remains under investigation by the Lapeer County Sheriff’s Office. Anyone with information is requested to contact Detective Sgt. Jason Parks at 810-656-1015 or firstname.lastname@example.org .
