PONTIAC, MI – A homeless woman was hospitalized after she was beaten and raped in Pontiac on Monday August 20th, 2018.
At approximately 1:20AM Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the corner of E. Montcalm Avenue and Baldwin Rd to meet with an assault victim.
Upon their arrival, Deputies observed that the 23-year-old woman had obviously been badly beaten. The victim had numerous facial injuries. The Waterford Regional Fire Department and Star EMS responded to the scene. Paramedics transported the victim to Royal Oak Beaumont Hospital for medical treatment.
Deputies interviewed the victim who indicated that she is homeless and lives in the wooded area surrounding Harris Lake. The victim stated that she was inside the shelter that she had built for herself when an unknown subject approached her and began striking her in the face with his fists. The victim stated that she had briefly lost consciousness and when she came to a man was sexually assaulting her. The suspect advised the victim that if she told anyone about the incident he would come back to kill her. The suspect fled on foot from the victim’s shelter into the woods.
An OCSO K-9 Unit responded to the scene and began to search the area for the suspect however it was terminated because they were unable to track him. Detectives were contacted and responded to the scene. Detectives are continuing with the investigation.
