LONDON TOWNSHIP, MI – On Wednesday August 29th, 2018, at approximately 5:30pm, troopers from the Michigan State Police Monroe Post were dispatched to the intersection of Ostrander and Townsend roads for a two vehicle crash involving a motorcycle.
From evidence at the scene and witness statements, the following events were determined: a 2001 Aprilla RSV motorcycle was westbound on Ostrander Road; the motorcyclist passed a school bus and collided with a 2009 Chevrolet Cobalt that was turning into a private driveway.
The motorcyclist, identified as 28 year old Jacob Ramsey of Ypsilanti, was the lone occupant and suffered fatal injuries as a result of the crash. The driver of the Chevrolet Cobalt, a 77 year old woman from Maybee, was not injured.
At this time, neither alcohol nor drug use appear to be a factor in the crash. The crash is currently under investigation by the Michigan State Police Monroe Post and Traffic Crash Reconstruction Unit.
Troopers were assisted by paramedics/rescue personnel from the London/Maybee/Raisinville (LMR) Fire Department, Monroe Community Ambulance (MCA), and deputies from the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office.
Troopers ask that anyone having information about the crash contact Tpr. Evan Ashley of the Monroe Post at 734-242-3500.
