DETROIT, MI – The Sumpter Township woman accused in the murder of her 4-year-old daughter was bound over for trial in court today.
Candice Diaz, of Sumpter Township, the defendant charged in connection with the murder of her four-year-old daughter Gabrielle Barrett had her preliminary examination oday and she was bound over on Felony Murder, Second Degree Murder, Child Abuse First Degree, Torture, Conspiracy to Commit Child Abuse First Degree and Conspiracy to Commit Child Abuse Second Degree.
Candice Diaz, 24-years-old, and her boyfriend, Brad Fields, 28-years-old, were arrested near Lake Park, Georgia, on Tuesday January 9th after Michigan State Police announced they were wanted in the death of Diaz’s 4-year-old daughter, Gabrielle Barrett.
The baby girl had severe burns to her extremities and was pronounced dead shortly after arriving at a local area hospital.
The arraignment on the information is on September 11, 2018, at 9:00 a.m. Defendant Brad Fields will have will have a pre-trial conference on the same day before Judge Vonda Evans at 9:00 a.m.
