LAPEER, MI – On Tuesday September 4th, 2018, at 11:40 PM, Lapeer County 911 dispatched Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies to an address located within a subdivision near the intersection of Wilder Road and Peppermill Road in Lapeer.
Family members within the residence reported that a 49 year old male (homeowner) was injured from a suspected gunshot that originated from the exterior of the residence.
Investigators established that the victim was alone inside a bedroom. A suspected gunshot entered the residence through the window and struck the victim in the shoulder. Nobody else within the residence was injured. The victim was transported for medical treatment and currently hospitalized in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.
The single gunshot originated outside the residence. Deputies conducted an extensive neighborhood canvas and scene search. No reported vehicles or individuals near the residence when the event occurred. Deputies have conducted numerous interviews in connection with this investigation. No arrest have resulted.
This incident remains an active investigation by Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies and updates may be released later as the investigation progresses.
At this time, this is believed to be an isolate incident. Lapeer County Sheriff’s Deputies will have an increased presence in this area while this investigation progresses to assure the public.
