One Person Killed in Allegan County House Fire

ALLEGAN, MI – At approximately 10:13 a.m. on Thursday September 6th, 2018, the Allegan County Central Dispatch received a 911 call of a house on fire at 4681 46th Street.

Further information broadcast was that there was a resident inside the home unable to escape the flames.Fatal House Fire

The Sheriff’s Department responded and arrived on scene to a fully involved residential fire. Deputy Flokstra and a neighbor attempted to gain entry into the home and render aid to the lone occupant.

Efforts were hampered by the amount of smoke and fire involved and the Deputy and neighbor were unable to make entry and attempt to rescue the victim.

After the fire was extinguished the lone occupant was found inside the home deceased. The identity of the deceased will be released at a later time.

The following Fire Departments were utilized: Overisel Twp FD, Salem Twp FD, Hamilton FD, Zeeland FD and Holland FD.

The house fire is under investigation by the MSP Fire Marshal’s Division and the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office.
