DETROIT, MI – Corie Williams, 29-years-old, of Detroit, has been charged in connection with a hit and run incident.
On September 8, 2018, at 3:30 p.m. in the 1110 block of Phillip it is alleged that the defendant was observed by the police driving at a high rate of speed. When officers in a marked scout car attempted to conduct a traffic stop, the defendant fled the scene at a high rate of speed striking several parked cars causing damage. Investigation by the Detroit Police Department assisted by the Grosse Pointe police led to the arrest of the defendant later on the same day.
Williams has been charged with: Fleeing and Eluding 3rd Degree; two counts of Resisting and Obstructing Police; Reckless Driving; and Failure to Stop After an Accident. He is expected to be arraigned at 2:30 p.m. this afternoon in 36th District Court.
