PONTIAC, MI – A 59-year-old man was taken into custody after he allegedly robbed a Rite Aid Pharmacy at gun point.
On Tuesday September 11th, 2018, at about 10:20PM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the 300 block of Martin Luther King Jr Blvd to the Rite Aid Pharmacy on the report of an armed robbery that had just occurred.
Upon their arrival, Deputies were advised that the suspect had fled the store. Deputies interviewed the 20-year-old store clerk who stated that he had been robbed at gunpoint by an unidentified black male wearing a dark colored hat, a dreadlock hair style, a dark shirt and army fatigues.
The store clerk stated that during the robbery the suspect passed a note to him that said to give him all of the money. The clerk stated he gave the suspect the money from his cash register and also gave the suspect a packet of money.
It was learned that the suspect vehicle was found to be traveling southbound on I-75 in the City of Troy. The City of Troy Police Department was notified and they had officers respond to the location. Deputies provided the Troy Police Department with the possible vehicle description of a small red SUV. The suspect vehicle was stopped by Troy Officers. The driver was taken into custody.
The suspect vehicle was searched. The stolen money ($200) and the note that the suspect had passed to the store clerk were recovered from inside of the vehicle.
The suspect was also wearing the same clothing as the suspect in the robbery.
The suspect was transported to the City of Pontiac Substation to speak with Detectives.
The suspect was interviewed by Detectives and admitted to committing the Rite Aid Pharmacy robbery. The suspect also admitted to having robbed a hotel in the City of Auburn Hills the prior night. The suspect was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges which are expected on Thursday.
