MOUNT CLEMENS, MI – On Tuesday September 18th, 2018, at approximately 9:35pm, Macomb County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to the area of 40 N. Main St. for a male lying on the ground who had been assaulted.
Upon arrival, deputies located a 45 year old man outside of the Macomb County Court House lying on the ground. The victim appeared to have a bloody nose and swollen eyes. This victim was known to the responding deputies as a homeless individual. The victim was unable to answer any questions and was transported to the hospital for treatment.
The caller, who had been walking past the court house witnessed the assault and has been cooperative with law enforcement. A second witness, along with surveillance video of the assault has been located and a suspect has been identified. The suspect’s name is not being released at this time.
Macomb County Detectives will be presenting this case to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office this morning.
The victim remains in critical condition at this time. The investigation continues.
