On October 10, 2018 at 9:20 p.m. the police were dispatched for a burglary of an occupied residence in the 7420 block of Evergreen Road. When they arrived they were met by Coleman. The police officers found no evidence of forced entry but observed blood on the front porch and near a vehicle. A handgun found in the home was confiscated by the police.
During the time they were investigating the home they received information from police dispatch that the 22-year-old ex-girlfriend of Coleman was in a local hospital suffering from a gunshot wound to the left thigh. It is alleged that Coleman shot the victim during an argument while she was picking up her dog and leaving the location. Coleman was placed under arrest by the police.
Coleman has been charged with Discharge of Firearm in a Building Causing Injury, Assault with Intent to Do Great Bodily Harm, Felonious Assault, False Report of a Felony and three counts of Felony Firearm. He is expected to be arraigned in 36th District court after 10:30 a.m.
