MONROE, MI – A 47-year-old man was killed in a fatal traffic crash that occurred on Friday, October 12th, 2018, at approximately 2:48AM.
The crash occurred on North Dixie Highway, south of Swan Creek Road, in Berlin Township.
Preliminary investigation reveals a silver 2001 Jeep Grand Cherokee was southbound on North Dixie Highway, when the driver lost control in a curved area of the roadway. The vehicle ran off the roadway to the right, where it struck a large concrete pillar and tree.
After impact, the vehicle overturned and became airborne, before coming to rest. During the crash, Mr. David S. Hoskins, 47-years-old, of Monroe, was ejected from the vehicle.
David Hoskins was pronounced dead at the scene.
Both speed and alcohol appear to be factors in the crash.
The Berlin Township Fire Department and Monroe Community Ambulance assisted at the scene. The crash remains under investigation by Deputy Sheriff Nicholas Burkhart of the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office Traffic Services Division. Anyone with information about the crash is asked to call 734-240-7557.
