Medical Issue may have caused Fatal Clare County Crash

CLARE COUNTY, MI – On October 11th, 2018, at approximately 8:00AM, troopers from the Michigan State Police (MSP) Mt. Pleasant Post were dispatched to a single motor vehicle crash on Lake Station Ave., north of US-10, in Clare County, Garfield Twp.fatal crash

The driver and only occupant in the vehicle was identified as 67-year-old Thomas Arthur Ruhstorfer from Lake, MI. Investigators believe that Mr. Ruhstorfer was traveling northbound on Lake Station Ave and went off the road due to a medical issue. The vehicle then crashed into the ditch and overturned.

Troopers and other first responders from Garfield Twp. Rescue and Mid-Michigan Medical Response attempted life saving measures on scene, however, Mr. Ruhstorfer was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Neither alcohol nor drugs are believed to be a factor in this crash.
