SOUTH LYON, MI – A 17-year-old South Lyon High School student was arrested on Wednesday October 10th, 2018 after authorities learned that he allegedly tried to buy a weapon and was in the process of planning to shoot up the school.
At approximately 8:30AM an Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputy assigned to South Lyon High School located at 1000 N Lafayette, as the School Resource Officer, received an anonymous tip that a student was in the process of devising a plan to obtain a firearm and shoot up the school. The School Resource Deputy interviewed the suspect, who refused to cooperate with the investigation.
Further information provided to Deputies identified a student who the suspect had attempted to obtain a firearm from. This student was cooperative with Deputies. The student refused to supply the suspect with a firearm.
The South Lyon High School Principal was notified of the incident. Deputies arrested the suspect and lodged him at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.
