CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – The incident began in the parking lot of the Rite Aid Pharmacy located at 15 Mile and Gratiot.  An officer responded to a report of a suspicious vehicle.

The officer pulled behind the woman’s car which was running. He knocked on her window several times but she refused to respond.  She then threw her car in reverse, striking the officers patrol car. As she was fleeing the parking lot, she hit another vehicle.

Several Clinton Township Police Officers chased the vehicle where they ended up at 16 Mile and Harper. Speeds never reached higher than 50 miles per hour.

In the video you can hear the sirens and then the Chevrolet Malibu that is being pursued by police comes into view. The woman looses control of the vehicle and crashes into a light pole. The crash brought down traffic lights and caused traffic to back up for several miles right at the evening rush hour.  The accident occurred at approximately 3:15PM on Tuesday October 16th, 2018.

The 27-year-old Southfield woman and her 5-year-old child were transported to a local area hospital. They were both examined and released with no serious injuries.  The mother is in police custody.

The woman is facing no less than child endangerment charges along with fleeing and eluding.
