MIDLAND, MI – The Midland County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a car/pedestrian crash that claimed the life of a 34 year old Gladwin woman.
The incident took place on North Meridian Road near Beech Street in Lincoln Township at approximately 9:45 pm on October 5, 2018. The investigation indicates that the driver, Becky Sanborn, 66-years-old, of Midland, was driving her white 2009 Pontiac G6, northbound on North Meridian Road. It appears that she struck Mary Hoggard, 34-years-old, of Gladwin, as she was crossing the roadway on foot.
Mrs. Hoggard was transported to Mid Michigan Medical Center with critical injuries. Mrs. Hoggard later passed away on October 12th.
Mrs. Sanborn was wearing a seat belt at the time of crash and was not injured.
The Midland County Sheriff’s is waiting for toxicology reports to determine if alcohol and or drugs were a factor. The report will be forwarded to the Midland County Prosecutor’s Office for review once it has been completed.
The Midland County Sheriff’s Office were assisted at the scene by Jerome Township Fire Rescue, Lincoln Township Fire Rescue and Mid Michigan EMS.
