Fowlerville Man Arrested for Child Porn Possession

HOWELL, MI – An investigation conducted by the Michigan State Police (MSP) Internet Crimes Against Children (ICAC) Task Force has resulted in the arrest of a man from Fowlerville. James Witgen, 35-years-old, was arrested by MSP Brighton Post Troopers on Oct. 15.James Witgen

The investigation stemmed from a National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) Cyber Tip. Further investigation led to locating a residence in Fowlerville. A search of the home netted multiple internet capable devices and evidence.

Witgen has been charged with three counts of child sexually abusive activity, three counts of possession of child sexually abusive activity and six counts of using a computer to commit a crime. Witgen was arraigned on all counts on Oct. 16 and issued a cash or surety bond of $1,000,000.

If convicted, Witgen faces up to 20 years in prison for each count of child sexually abusive activity, four years in prison for each count of possession of child sexually abusive material and seven years in prison for each count of using of a computer to commit a crime.
