Three Charged in Murder of Starkisha Thompson

On October 9, 2018 at 8:05 a.m., police responded to a “shots fired” police dispatch to the driveway of a home in the 16400 block of Collingham Drive in Detroit. Ms. Thompson sustained multiple gunshot wounds and was pronounced dead at the scene by medics. It is alleged that Streeter, Dixon and Holmes killed Ms. Thompson. The facts and evidence in the homicide case will be presented in court at the preliminary examination.

Jah-lana Streeter was the girlfriend to Kenneth Dixon.

Streeter, Dixon and Holmes have each been charged with: Murder – First Degree, Conspiracy to Commit Murder – First Degree, Witness Intimidating – Committing a Crime, Witness – Retaliating Against. Defendant Holmes is also charged with Felon in Possession and three counts of Felony Firearm.*

Streeter was arraigned and remanded to jail in 36th District Court.  Streeter will have a Probable Cause Conference on October 29, 2018.  Defendants Dixon and Holmes are expected to be arraigned on Saturday, October 20, 2018 after 11:00 a.m. in 34th District Court in Romulus.

Based on records from the Michigan Department of Corrections, Kenneth Dixon has previous convictions for:

  1. Armed Robbery
  2. Weapons – Felony Firearms

Both of those convictions date back to May of 2009. However the records show that he was a parolee at the time that Starkisha Thompson was murdered. He was placed on parole as of May 16th, 2018.

Thompson was shot and killed in an ambush outside her home on Collingham near Cordell on Detroit’s east side on the morning of Oct. 9 shortly after dropping her teenage son off at school.

She was killed six days after testifying against Kenneth Dixon. Dixon was arrested in Harper Woods last month after he allegedly carjacked Starkisha and her boyfriend. Starkisha was a witness in that case. Detroit Police Chief James Craig says the suspects tried to buy Starkisha’s silence and she refused.
