ALLEGAN, MI – A couple married only two weeks lost their lives in a tragic car crash in Allegan on July 17th, 2018. They were identified as Logan Thunderland Allbaugh, 24-years-old, from Holland, and his wife Hannah Mae Kwekel, 22-years-old from Zeeland. Allbaugh

On Tuesday July 17th, 2018, at approximately 3:45PM, officers were dispatched to a personal injury accident involving three vehicles at the intersection of 128th Ave and Lincoln Rd (M-40) in Heath Twp.

Upon arrival deputies from the Allegan County Sheriff’s Office and medical first responders began to access injuries of those involved in the accident.  A short time later it was determined that of the four total occupants involved, three drivers and one occupant, one driver had sustained minor injuries, another driver was uninjured and a driver and occupant in another car were pronounced dead at the scene.  The two deceased were in the same vehicle.

It has been determined through witness statements and preliminary reconstruction that a single occupant vehicle traveling westbound on 128th Ave. failed to yield for the stop sign striking a northbound vehicle occupied by a driver and passenger.  The northbound vehicle was put into a spin driving into the southbound lane of Lincoln Rd. (M-40) and was subsequently struck by a southbound vehicle occupied by a driver only.

The Allegan County Prosecutor’s Office has issued the following warrants for the suspect driver in this case:

Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death and Reckless Driving Causing Death for Logan Allbaugh.

Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death and Reckless Driving Causing Death for Hannah Kwekel.

Operating While Intoxicated Causing Serious Injury and Reckless Driving Causing Serious Injury for Duane McDonald.

One count of Weapons – Carrying Concealed for a handgun which was found in the suspect’s vehicle.

The suspect has been lodged at the Allegan County Correctional Facility but he has not been arraigned at this time. It is anticipated that he will be arraigned this afternoon at approximately 1PM.

Assisting the sheriff’s office was the Michigan State Police, Hamilton Fire Dept, Saugatuck Fire Dept. AMR, Ottawa Co. Sheriff’s Office, Holland City Police Dept, Eaton Co. Sheriff’s Office.
