IONIA, MI – Photos provided by the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office show the tragic aftermath of a fatal car crash that occurred on Wednesday October 30th, 2018 at approximately 6:00AM.
Preliminary investigation revealed that a 2008 Honda Civic was being driven by 20-year-old Trinity Grace Nellis of Corning, New York. She was traveling north bound on Keefer Hwy when she disregarded the stop sign at David Hwy.
Traveling west bound on David Hwy was a Dodge Ram 2500 pickup being driven by Kevin Coffman, a 28-year-old male from St. Johns.
The dodge pickup struck the Honda Civic on the passenger side of the vehicle. Trinity Nellis was pronounced dead on scene. Kevin Coffman was transported to Sparrow Ionia Hospital for his injuries.
Seatbelts were being utilized at the time of the crash. Alcohol and drugs are not believed to be a factor in the tragic accident.
Assisting the Ionia County Sheriff’s Office on scene was Berlin/Orange Fire Department, Ionia County Central Dispatch, Portland Ambulance, Lehman’s Funeral Home, and Reed and Hoppes Towing.
