A 31-year-old man died after his vehicle struck another vehicle, rolled over and then hit a light pole bringing down power lines early Sunday November 4th, 2018.

The victim was traveling eastbound on 8 Mile when he struck a vehicle being driven by a 42-year-old man who was northbound on Groesbeck. The victim’s vehicle rolled over and struck a light pole bringing down power lines.
That caused all traffic to be shut down until DTE crews could arrive on scene and make numerous repairs.

A crew was sent to remove the downed lines and replace a pole that holds up the lines. Then the traffic signal needed to be rewired by a separate crew.

It had been expected that the intersection at 8 Mile Road and Groesbeck Highway was going to be closed until Monday morning. However, the intersection reopened at about 5:00PM Sunday evening.

The 42-year-old man was not seriously injured and refused medical care.
