ROSEVILLE, MI – On Monday November 5th, 2018, a MSP Trooper advised Michigan State Police dispatch that his patrol car was struck.
At 11:17 p.m. last evening a trooper was involved in a patrol car crash on eastbound I-94 near Little Mack. The crash occurred as the trooper was seated in his patrol car sitting stationary with emergency lights activated in the right lane.
The Trooper was providing coverage for a 3-car Injury crash further ahead when he was struck from behind by a vehicle that was traveling in the center lane that had lost control.
After impacting the left front quarter panel of the patrol car the at-fault vehicle traveled further ahead striking another vehicle in the rear. The third vehicle was stopped in back-up traffic approximately 500 yards east of of the troopers car.
The trooper was transported to McLaren Hospital in Mount Pleasant along with both occupants (adult females) of the second vehicle that was struck. The at-fault driver was not injured. All injuries are non-life threatening and all have been released from the hospital.
The at-fault driver, a 21-year-old man, will be cited for Fail to Move Over/Yield to an emergency Vehicle. No suspected alcohol or drugs were observed. Please make sure you move over a lane or slow down to insure you can pass safely.
