IRON MOUNTAIN, MI – Iron Mountain Police were dispatched to the Goodwill store located at 1858 S Stephenson Ave in reference to a person who was found deceased at 8:55AM on November 6th, 2018.Body Found

The person has been identified as 59–year–old Shelley Bowman. Shelley Bowman died accidentally while inside of a large dumpster behind the Goodwill building.

Iron Mountain Police determined that Bowman entered the dumpster under her own free will and power and was selecting items she wanted to repurpose. While doing so, she slipped and fell head first into a void or open area within the garbage. This void or open area was approximately five feet deep inside of the dumpster.

The preliminary cause of death pending any toxicology results is that Shelley Bowman died from Position Asphyxiation. In other words she was suffocated to death by the garbage that was around her inside of the dumpster.

The Dickinson County Sheriff’s Department, the Kingsford Public Safety Department and the Michigan State Police assisted in the investigation.
