Project Green Light Assists in Arrest of Juvenile Car Thief [Video]

DETROIT, MI – Detroit police arrested a suspect involved in a UDAA (Unlawful Driving Away of an Automobile) incident that occurred in the city’s west side.

On Nov. 11, 2018 at approximately 12:45 a.m. in the 10600 block of West Chicago (a Project Green Light Location), a 26-year old male victim pulled up to a liquor store in a tan, 2002, Pontiac, Bonneville. He exited his vehicle and went into the store leaving his vehicle running. While he was inside an unknown juvenile suspect entered his vehicle and fled in an unknown direction.

Sixth precinct patrol officers responded and immediately conducted an investigation. Using video from Project Green and the assistance from the analyst at the RTCC, a description of the suspect was obtained and broadcast over the radio. Assisting officer’s located the vehicle in the area of Joy and Memorial where a traffic stop was conducted, the suspect was detained and conveyed to the Wayne County Juvenile Detention Center for processing. He was charged and arraigned on Monday, November 12, 2018.
