LEWISTON, MI – On Saturday November 17th, 2018, Troopers and detectives from the Alpena Post began investigating a death in the Lewiston area.
The investigation began when Oscoda Deputies were dispatched to a wooded area regarding a deceased male. Upon examining the scene, the MSP detectives were summoned and were eventually asked to take charge of the case.
Since then, detectives have confirmed that 29-year-old Matthew Boeck, of Howell, was found dead from and apparent gunshot wound. The man was found in the woods near Farrington Road and Townline Road in Oscoda County near Lewiston.
The details surrounding his death are under investigation. The Michigan State Police Crime Lab was called to assist at the scene. Help was also provided by the Michigan DNR.
Investigators have cleared the scene. Additional information will be released as it becomes available. An autopsy has been scheduled.
