HOLLY, MI – The two adult victims that were involved in a tragic car accident on East Holly Road on Saturday November 17th, 2018 have been identified.

On Saturday night, November 17th, 2018, at 9:56PM, first responders were dispatched to a single vehicle rollover accident with two occupants entrapped and the vehicle on fire.

The driver has been identified as 22-year-old Jeremy Andrew Blevins of Clarkston and the front seat passenger is identified as 20 year-old Jacob Veeder of Waterford.

Troopers attempted to pull the victims from the burning vehicle but were initially unsuccessful due to the victims legs being pinned under the dashboard and flames coming from the engine compartment. MSP Troopers used their patrol car fire extinguishers to knock down the fire to the point where they were able to get to the victims.

After arriving on scene, firefighter paramedics worked inside the dangerously compromised vehicle while firefighters with assistance from MSP Troopers and the Village of Holly Police Department performed the disentanglement.

The driver, Jeremy Blevins, was removed within twenty minutes from the time of the call by firefighters and was  transported by the Village of Holly Advanced Life Support Ambulance to a local area hospital.

The front right seat passenger, Jacob Veeder, was severely entrapped in the passenger side of the vehicle due to the fact that the wreckage was up against two trees.

Members of the North Oakland County Fire Authority and the Village of Holly Fire Department worked heroically and seamlessly together with firefighter paramedics inside the vehicle rendering care to disentangle Jake. He was removed within twenty minutes after Jeremy had been.

Groveland Township Fire Department assisted with an Advance Life Support Ambulance to transport Jake with assistance from North Oakland County Firefighter Paramedics.

Sadly, Jeremy Blevins did not survive the injuries he sustained in the accident. Jeremy died after arriving at the hospital. Jake Veeder sustained critical injuries. He sustained burns on about 24% of his body during the car fire. He also has several broken bones and fractures. He was placed in a medically induced coma in the burn unit of Hurley Hospital.

Jacob’s family reached out on social media asking for prayers as he has already endured surgery and will need more as his body continues to heal. A Go Fund Me account has been established to assist with the mounting medical bills for Jake’s care. Since Jake is 20 years old, he is eligible for Medicaid but not all costs are paid for by Medicaid and it is unknown if car insurance will assist in paying the bills. The preliminary investigation revealed that no apparent drugs or alcohol factored into this very sad and tragic  accident. However, the vehicle was being driven too fast to negotiate the curved roadway.

There was a third occupant in the backseat. She is not being identified due to her being a minor and she was not significantly injured from the accident. She is being identified as a 17-year-old female from Davisburg.

The accident remains under investigation.

Along with MSP Troopers and the Village of Holly Police Department, North Oakland County Fire  Authority, Groveland Township Fire Department and North Oakland County Firefighter Paramedics assisted at the scene. There were a total of three Fire Departments and twenty two firefighters that assisted in a very difficult task.

The North Oakland County Fire Authority extends their thoughts and prayers to the families of the victims and with all Paramedics, Police Officers and Firefighters involved in this incident.

They also would like to thank their surrounding departments for their assistance during a very demanding run.
