Manistee Police Investigating Domestic Assault

MANISTEE, MI – On Thursday November 29th, 2018, Officers from the Manistee Police Department responded to the 400 block of 1st Street in reference to a domestic assault investigation.Manistee Police

The Manistee Fire Department assisted. Officers contacted a 33-year-old female that had sustained several serious injuries. Pursuant to the investigation a search warrant was served at the suspects residence. A 40-year-old man was arrested and charged with felony aggravated domestic and is currently lodged at the Manistee County Sheriff’s Department.

On Friday November 30th, 2018, a two-count warrant was issued for Richard Allen Anderson Jr, w/m, 40 years old. The charges are Assault with intent to do great bodily harm less than murder, a 10-year felony and domestic assault third offense, a 5-year felony. Mr. Anderson was arraigned and a $200,000 cash/surety bond was issued.

Officers from the Little River Band of Ottawa Indians and Michigan State Police along with deputies from the Manistee County Sheriff’s office assisted with the investigation. The investigation is ongoing.
