PONTIAC, MI – Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies responded to the United Shore Mortgage Building in the 500 block of E. South Blvd. on the report that a former employee had been making threatening statements via text messaging.
Upon their arrival, Deputies spoke with the complainant regarding threatening texts messages that he had received. The complainant stated that the former employee, Ahmed Anwarullah, 31-years-old, of Sterling Heights, who was sending these text messages had been terminated yesterday. The complainant stated that earlier in the day Anwarullah sent him several text messages that threatened large scale violence. The complainant had been made aware by another employee, of a social media page known as Snapchat, that the subject posted a picture of himself holding a firearm.
Deputies ascertained an address for Ahmed Anwarullah. His last known address was found to be in the City of Sterling Heights. Officers from the City of Sterling Heights Police Department located him at his residence. The subject was detained and subsequently turned over to Deputies. Deputies were granted permission to take five firearms out of the suspect’s home which are being held for safekeeping. The suspect was lodged at the Oakland County Jail pending the issuance of criminal charges.
Ahmed Anwarullah has been charged with making Terrorist Threat or False Report of Terrorism which is a 20 year felony if convicted.
Ahmed Anwarullah was arraigned on 12/6/18 at the 50th District Court in front of the Honorable Judge Michael Martinez. Bond was set at $50,000 cash or surety. Judge Martinez also ordered that Ahmed be placed on GPS tether prior to release and that he surrender his passport. A probable cause conference was scheduled for 12/18/18 in front of the Honorable Judge Rhonda Gross.
