GRAND LEDGE, MI –A 29-year-old man from Lowell Michigan has been charged with the murder of a Grand Ledge man in the victims home on East Grand Ledge Highway.
On Sunday December 9th, 2018, at approximately 6:00 p.m., Eaton County Sheriff’s deputies were dispatched to check a suspicious person in the 1600 block of East Grand Ledge Highway (M-43), west of Grand Ledge.
Passersby had stopped to help a man, now identified as 29-year-old Joseph Steven Sadlak, of Lowell, MI, walking in that area. Joseph Sadlak indicated to witnesses that there may be a deceased person inside a house located at 1640 E Grand Ledge Hwy. Deputies detained Sadlak and then went to the home identified by him. Deputies entered the home and found a man dead inside.
The victim is identified as 44-year-old Clinton Billy Decker. In a search of records for Clinton Decker is seems that he at one time was on the Michigan Sex Offender Registry. He was convicted in November of 2001 for Attempted Child Sexually Abusive Activity.
It is unknown if Clinton Decker’s murder had anything to do with his previous conviction and entry on Michigan’s Sex Offender Registry.
Grand Ledge is located west of Lansing while Lowell is located northwest of Lansing. The two places are approximately 45 minutes apart. Why Joseph Sadlak would be in the Grand Ledge area has not been indicated by authorities.
Joseph Sadlak is being held in the Eaton County Jail. He has been charged by the Eaton County Prosecutor’s Office with Open Murder. There is no bond and the suspect’s next court date is December 17, 2018.
