ROSEVILLE, MI – A 4 year old boy has died from a self inflicted gunshot wound after they found a gun inside of the home.
The shooting occurred at about 8:40AM on Friday, December 14th, 2018, on Dort Street near Hudson in Roseville
Relatives of the home owner had came to visit with 6 of their children. The youngest of those children was shot in the stomach. He was rushed to a local area hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Roseville Schools released the following statement before knowing the child had died:
There have been rumors this morning about an incident that happened near one of our elementary schools. We do not have all of the details yet, but what we do know is that a 4-year old child found a gun in their house and shot themselves in the arm. The Roseville Police Department was immediately called to the scene and our staff and students were never in any danger and the RPD felt there was no need to be put into lock-down.
This shooting was not affiliated with our schools, but it was near one of our schools, and the Roseville Police Department believe all of our students are safe.
