ROSEVILLE, MI – A fire broke out at Macomb Manor Apartments located at 19700 Masonic in Roseville early Sunday evening.
On December 16th, 2018, at approximately 5:15PM, police, EMS and firefighters were call to the scene at the apartment complex across the street from Macomb Mall.
An elderly disabled woman woman died due to the fire. She was trying to push her 4-year-old grandson out of their Roseville apartment after the building caught fire.
Fire Personell said the woman succumbed to thick smoke inside of her apartment.
Her grandson was transported to St. John Hospital & Medical Center in Detroit, where he is being treated for smoke inhalation. He is expected to make a full recovery.
A total of eight apartments were damaged in the fire. Residents who became displaced from their apartments were seeking assistance from management Sunday evening. Management was trying to find those individuals and families temporary shelter until a full assessment can be made of what damage needs to be repaired and how long those repairs will take.
