FLINT, MI – A Flint Township man has been charged in connection with the Christmas Eve fatal crash on Saginaw Street at 12th Street in the City of Flint that killed two people.
Lorenzo Jackson, 23-years-old, has been charged with two counts of second degree murder and two counts of fleeing and eluding police first degree related to the incident.
The crash occurred at approximately 12:30 a.m. on December 24, 2018. Police observed a vehicle driving recklessly southbound on Saginaw Street and swerving in traffic. Officers activated their emergency lights and sirens in an attempt to stop the vehicle. However, before they could make the traffic stop, the suspect’s vehicle ran the red light and crashed into a Pontiac Grand Am at the intersection of Saginaw and 12th Streets.
The two occupants in the Grand Am were killed on impact.
“At a time when many people are celebrating the joys of the holidays with friends and family, a terrible tragedy has unexpectedly taken two lives,” said Prosecutor David Leyton. “My heart goes out to their families as they deal with their tragic losses,” he said.
Jackson was arraigned in 67th District Court.
