CHARLOTTE, MI – On Wednesday January 8th, 2019, at 1:53 P.M., Eaton County Sheriff’s Deputies were sent to the 2200 block of E. Five Point Hwy in Eaton Township for an unknown problem, but were told a man was acting erratic.Ray Williams

Upon arrival the deputies tried making contact with the subject, Ray Anthony Williams, 50 years old, but the subject fled on foot away from the deputies. A short time later deputies heard two series of gunshots and a perimeter was set up to try to contain the subject. A helicopter from the Michigan State Police was called for assistance.

After an extensive search of the area, the deputies were able to determine that Ray Williams had made his way back to his residence. Crisis negotiators were called in to talk with the subject. After numerous hours of negotiations, Williams came out of his residency peacefully. During the negotiation process, it was determined the subject had a felony warrant for his arrest.

Ray Williams was lodged at the Eaton County Jail on the warrant and other charges are being sought for the incident yesterday. No one was injured during the incident and no other parties were present at the residence.

The Eaton County Sheriff’s Office was assisted by troopers from the Michigan State Police Post 11 and Aviation unit. The Sheriff’s Office was also assisted by the Lansing Police Department, Eaton Area EMS and the Hamlin Township Fire Department.
