ROSCOMMON, MI – Troopers from West Branch and Houghton Lake worked together to turn a traffic stop for speeding into an arrest for possession of about 38 grams of cocaine. Donald Leduke, of Pontiac, was arraigned in Roscommon on January 9th, 2019.
A trooper from the West Branch Post made a traffic stop for excessive speed on I-75 in Roscommon County on January 7th, 2019, just after midnight. Troopers from the Houghton Lake Post (which covers Roscommon County) were summoned to the scene to assist, and a roadside investigation began.
It was quickly determined that the 37-year-old female driver from Pontiac had a suspended driver’s license. Further investigation including a search of the car and the occupants revealed open alcohol and roughly 38 grams of a substance believed to be cocaine.
Roscommon County Deputies assisted at the scene and with the transport of both the driver and the passenger to the Roscommon County Jail.
Upon review of the investigation, the Roscommon County Prosecutor’s Office charged the passenger, 42-year-old Donald LeDuke, of Pontiac, with Possession of Open Intoxicants and Possession of Less than 50 Grams of Cocaine.
He was arraigned in the 82nd District Court on January 9th and now awaits further court hearings.
LeDuke was previously convicted and spent time in prison for the following dating back to 1994:
