Ottawa County Man Critical after being Struck by Snowplow

HOLLAND, MI – On Saturday January 19th 2019, at 7:50PM, the Ottawa County Sheriff’s Office responded to a car versus bicycle personal injury accident on 144th Ave near Butternut Dr in Holland Township of Ottawa County.police-raid 800x533

Investigation at the scene indicates that a 46 year old Holland resident was traveling northbound on 144th Ave in his 1996 Chevy pick up truck with a snowplow attached. The driver struck a 25 year old Holland resident who was ridding his bike on 144th Ave.

The Driver of the pickup truck sad that he never saw and initially did not know he struck the bicyclist. The bicyclist was drug for several hundred yards before becoming dislodged.

The Bicyclist was treated at the scene by paramedics from the Sheriff’s Office before he was transported to Holland Hospital by AMR Ambulance. He was subsequently transferred to Spectrum Butterworth Hospital where he is listed in critical condition.

The driver of the pick up truck is cooperating with the investigation and at this point alcohol and drugs do not appear to be a factor in this crash.
