WESTLAND, MI – The manslaughter charges that 3 were facing in the Westland jail death case of William Marshall have been dismissed. They will now face Misconduct in Office charges.

Westland Sergeant Ronald Buckley, 55-years-old and Westland Paramedics Matt Dicosola, 51-years-old, and Leah Maynard, 37-years-old, charged in connection with the in-custody jail death of William Marshall, 37-years-old, of Inkster, had their preliminary examinations on December 17th, 2018. Today the judge ruled that the Manslaughter charges would be dismissed for all three defendants. The judge ruled that the prosecution had not presented sufficient evidence to show that the defendants’ actions were the cause of Mr. Marshall’s death.

All of the defendants were bound over on the Misconduct in Office charge. The Arraignment on the Information is scheduled for January 29, 2019. WCPO will determine whether an appeal will be filed.
