On January 24th, 2019, at approximately 2:20AM, scouts responded to a shooting at a Green Light partner gas station in the 20000 block of Joy Rd. An individual matching the description of the suspect was observed walking north from the location and arrested without incident.
During the investigation, the investigators spoke with the victim, a 22-year old man, who stated that the suspect had confronted him inside the location. The suspect then produced a handgun from his coat and pointed it at the victim. The victim pushed the gun away and fled the location on foot.
The suspect then walked outside the location and approached the victim’s empty vehicle. He opened the hood, then fired his weapon into the vehicle’s tires and windshield. The suspect then left the scene on foot.
After arresting the individual, the investigators contacted Crime Intelligence, who confirmed the description of the suspect with the Green Light footage. His weapon was also located nearby in a bush and recovered.
The suspect was identified as 30-year old Lance Cochran, of Southfield. He was taken to the Detroit Detention Center and processed. A warrant package was submitted to the Wayne County Prosecuting Office and approved for one count of Carrying a Concealed Weapon, one count of Brandishing a Firearm in Public, and one count of Reckless Use of Firearms. He was arraigned on January 25.
