DETROIT, MI – On Tuesday February 5th, 2019, at approximately 6:20PM, on Westbound I-96 near Virgil, a Metro South Trooper was responding to a crash when a driver lost control in front of him.
The trooper had enough distance to apply emergency braking. However, the driver behind the patrol car did not. That car rear ended the patrol car. There were no reported injuries at the scene to the other drivers. The trooper was treated for back pain. The at-fault driver will be cited.
Drivers are reminded to leave enough distance between your car and the car in front of you especially on roadways that might be ice covered and slippery.
