LEXINGTON, KY – The Lexington Police Department is investigating the fatal shooting of a woman outside a local night club. Iesha Edwards, 27-years-old, died from a gunshot wound on January 26th, 2019.
Around 2:30 a.m. Saturday, January 26th, officers were dispatched to The Fox Club located at 987 Winchester Road for a disorder involving firearms. Upon officers’ arrival, several people were seen fighting in the parking lot, and Ms. Edwards was found lying on the ground. She was transported to a hospital where she was pronounced deceased.
The preliminary investigation revealed that a physical altercation between several men and women broke out inside the club and moved outside the building just prior to the shooting. Witnesses described the suspected shooter as a black man with a beard wearing a black hooded sweatshirt. He has a tattoo on his right hand and on the left side of his neck.
The Lexington Police Department, with assistance from the U.S. Marshals Service, is searching for a man wanted in connection with a fatal shooting last month. James E. Ragland II, 28-years-old, has an active warrant for Murder in the death of Iesha Edwards.
On Thursday, January 31, U.S. Marshals in Detroit arrested Ragland’s alleged accomplice, 29-year-old Gaige Phillips on a warrant for Criminal Facilitation to wit Murder. Investigators determined that Ragland fired multiple shots at the Fox Club on January 26th and that Phillips assisted in Ragland’s escape.
Based on records from the Michigan Department of Corrections, James Ragland is listed as an Absconder from Parole. He has previous felony convictions for:
- Robbery Armed
- Weapons – Felony Firearms
Ragland is also from Detroit and he may be in that area. Anyone with information about his whereabouts is asked to contact Lexington Police or the U.S. Marshals.
