LENOX TOWNSHIP, MI – On Saturday February 9th, 2019, at approximately 6:45AM, Macomb County Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to a residential alarm on 31 Mile Road.
Upon arrival,deputies located a blue Chevy pick-up truck driven by a man fleeing the scene. Deputies attempted to stop the pick-up truck but it continued to flee. Stop sticks were deployed. The pick-up struck the stop sticks and left the roadway. The pick-up truck came to a stop against a tree on Gratiot north of 25 Mile Road. The driver, James Wallace, 46-years-old, of Livonia, was taken into custody without incident.
The home owner of the residential alarm reported items stolen from his home which were recovered from the pick-up truck driven by Wallace. The pick-up truck was also stolen out of another jurisdiction.
No deputies or Wallace were injured as a result of this crash. Several police vehicles were damaged.
The Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office charged Wallace with four counts:
- Home Invasion- 2nd Degree (felony)
- Assault With A Dangerous Weapon (Felonious Assault) (felony)
- Stolen Property – Receiving and Concealing – Motor Vehicle (felony)
- Police Officer – Fleeing – Fourth Degree – Vehicle Code (felony)
Wallace was arraigned on 2/11/19 in the 42-2 District Court of New Baltimore. He received a $50,000 bond and is scheduled to return to the 42-2 District Court of New Baltimore on 2/20/19 at 9:00am for a preliminary cause conference.
