Fake Photo on Social Media Sets in Motion Armed Robbery in Mount Pleasant [Updated]

UPDATE: As of 6:40PM on Tuesday February 12th, 2019, Douglas Gale was taken into custody and the vehicle was located after a traffic violation witnessed by a police officer. The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office is still working on identifying the other two suspects in the case. 

MOUNT PLEASANT, MI – Douglas Gale, a 20-year-old man, from Mt Pleasant, and 2 other unknown suspects at this time, are wanted for an armed robbery that took place on Sunday, February 10th 2019, at 1:22AM. The incident occurred at the Timber Creek Apartments.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office responded to a report from a man and women in Union township in regards to being robbed by three men, two of which presented handguns.

The 20 year old man and women indicated that they had posted a social media picture which showed them with a large amount of cash. The photo per the complainants was an edited image and posted as a joke. Later in the evening an acquaintance of one of the victims arrived at their apartment with two other men demanding the cash, two of the men presented handguns. When the three learned that there was no money they ordered them to give them any prescription medication that the two victims had and then left in an unknown direction.

The suspects are believed to be in a beige in color Ford 500 that has rear fenders that are rusted.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office is asking for anyone that knows Douglas or anything about the other two suspects or incident to contact the ICSO at 989-772-0911. Tips can also be posted on the Isabella County Facebook page (private message section) or called to the Isabella County Central Dispatch non-emergency number or 989-773-1000.

The Isabella County Sheriff’s Office is being assisted by the Mt Pleasant Police Department and the Central MI University Police Department.
