YOUNGSTOWN, OH – A 28-year-old man, who allegedly was planning a massive shooting in Detroit, was arrested in Ohio before he could carry out his intended actions.
Cameron White, 28-years-old, of Detroit, was arrested Wednesday, February 20th, 2019, by members of the U.S. Marshals Northern Ohio Violent Fugitive Task Force. A warrant was issued for White after he made terroristic threats over social media concerning Detroit.
According to White’s post he stated on Facebook “am planning a massive shooting real soon cw style it’s well past time.”
Authorities in Detroit contacted members of the Ohio task force because they believed that Cameron White was hiding in Youngstown. They wanted White taken into custody before his planned return to Detroit to carry out the shooting.
White was located in a house in Youngstown near the 900 block of State Street. He was arrested without incident. He is being held in Youngstown until he can be extradited back to Detroit to face charges.
U.S. Marshal Peter Elliott stated, “Immediate attention to this dangerous suspect by the Detroit police department and the U.S. Marshal’s task force in Detroit led to a swift and safe arrest by the task force in Youngstown. We will continue to partner with our state and local law enforcement agencies to keep suspects like White off the streets and our communities safe.”
