Benton Harbor Man Killed in Dispute over Money

BENTON HARBOR, MI – On Saturday, March 2nd, 2019, Benton Harbor Department of Public Safety officers responded to 182 Lake Street, at 1:22am, to a call of an unknown male subject down.murder

Officers soon discovered a man lying in the basement who appeared to have a stab wound to the chest.

A suspect was immediately identified and taken into custody.

The victim was identified as 58-year-old Sylvester Booth. The suspect was identified as 61-year-old Jerry Lee Osler.

Osler and Booth were roommates and the incident stemmed from a dispute over money. According to the confession, Sylvester Booth was killed approximately 4-5 days ago and remained inside the home until located by the police this morning.

Jerry Osler was lodged in the Berrien County Jail without incident.
