PONTIAC, MI – On Monday March 11th, 2019, at 11:30PM, Oakland County Sheriff’s Deputies and the Waterford Regional Fire Department responded to the 100 block of Starlite Lane on the report of an unresponsive 2-month-old infant who was not breathing.
Paramedics from Star EMS responded and upon their arrival began performing CPR. Paramedics continued to administer CPR while transporting the infant to McLaren-Oakland Hospital. The infant continued to receive medical attention from Emergency Room physicians until she was pronounced deceased.
The infant’s father was interviewed by Detectives. He indicated to them that he had removed his daughter from her crib and then placed her in his bed to sleep. When he woke-up, he checked on her. He found her unresponsive and cold to the touch. He then called 9-1-1 for help.
Detectives responded to the scene to continue with the investigation. The Oakland County Medical examiner’s Office was advised of the infant’s death. The child was transported from the Emergency Room of McLaren-Oakland Hospital to the Oakland County Medical Examiner’s Office. An autopsy has been conducted and the results are pending toxicology results.
The incident remains under investigation.
