CHEBOYGAN, MI – The Cheboygan County Sheriff’s Office opened up a criminal sexual conduct investigation in January involving a 14 year old victim.
Cheboygan County Sheriff Dale Clairmont stated “We received information that Michael Lee Allred, 34-years-old, of Cheboygan, may be having sexual contact with a juvenile in Cheboygan County. D/Lt. Mike Brege opened an investigation and over the last two months was able to seek a warrant and arrest Allred.”
It is alleged Michael Allred started having contact with the juvenile in October of 2018. “We worked with the Department of Human and Health Service in Cheboygan County to ensure the victim was first and foremost placed in a safe environment,” said Clarmont.
Based on the investigation by D/Lt. Brege with assistance from MSP St. Ignace Post, the Cheboygan County Prosecutor’s Office issued a six count arrest warrant on Allred; five counts of criminal sexual conduct with a minor 1st degree and one count of criminal sexual conduct with a minor 2nd degree. Allred was also charge as a habitual offender. Allred is also on parole for burglary.
Allred faces life in prison if convicted. Bond was denied. He is due back in court March 18, 2019.
