HOLLAND, MI – The investigation into the murder of Troy Wells Jr at the Hampton Inn continues.
At 12:04AM, Saturday February 16th, 2019, Ottawa County Sheriff’s Deputies and medics were sent to the Hampton Inn, located at 12427 Felch Street, in Holland Township, on a call of shots fired.
Upon arrival deputies found a 14 year old boy, Troy “TJ” Wells Jr., suffering from multiple gun shot wounds. TJ was transported to Holland Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
On Tuesday, March 19, 2019, the Ottawa County Prosecutor’s Office authorized felony charges on Juan Pablo Cabrera, 34-years-old and the father of the suspected shooter.
The elder Cabrera is charged with Obstructing Police by lying during a homicide investigation. This is a result of Juan Pablo knowingly making false statements to sheriff’s detectives during the investigation of the murder that involved his 18-year-old son.
Additionally, Juan Pablo is charged with being a habitual offender. He remains in custody and additional charges are likely related to this murder investigation.
