DETROIT, MI – A 15-year-old boy has been charged in connection with an attempt to carry a weapon into Mumford High School in Detroit.
On Tuesday March 19th, 2019, at approximately 9:00 a.m., upon entering his school, the teenager passed through the metal detector and triggered the alarm. A search of his backpack resulted in the recovery of a firearm. It is alleged that the teen was carrying a concealed weapon and a replica of a handgun into his high school.
The juvenile has been charged with Carrying a Concealed Weapon and Possession of a Facsimile Firearm. He is expected to have a preliminary hearing at 1:30 p.m. this afternoon at the Juvenile Detention Center.
