CLINTON TOWNSHIP, MI – The Clinton Township Police Department is investigating a fatal traffic crash involving three vehicles.
The crash occurred around midnight April 12th, 2019 on Harper Ave. and Trombley. A total of 5 people were in involved with 1 fatality, 2 critical injured, and 2 who appeared to be uninjured.
Preliminary investigation indicated that a gray 2014 Chrysler 300, was north bound on Harper Ave. near Winners Bar. About the same time, a black 2006 Chrysler 300 was turning left into Winners bar. The 2014 300 struck the back end of the 2006 300 taking its plastic bumper off.
At about the same time a black 2006 Chevy Trailblazer was attempting to make a left hand turn off Trombley to head south bound on Harper. Trombley is one street north of Winners bar. After striking the 2006 Chrysler 300, the 2014 Chrysler 300 struck the Trailblazer. The 2014 Chrysler 300 and Trailblazer came to rest near the I-94/Harper south exit.
The 2014 Chrysler 300, which was being driven by a Clinton Twp. resident, had two other passengers inside. As a result of the crash, the driver died on scene from his injuries. The rear passenger suffered critical injuries and the front seat passenger did not appear to have been injured. Both were taken to the hospital. Neither the driver nor the rear seat passenger were wearing a seat belt.
The driver of the Trailblazer was taken to the hospital where she is in critical condition.
It is unknown if drugs/alcohol were a factor in the crash. Harper Ave. is a five lane roadway with two north bound lanes, two south bound lanes and a center turn lane. The posted speed limit for the area is 45 mph.
