Detroit Man Formally Charged in Puritan Street Fatal Hit and Run

DETROIT, MI – Malcolm Lewis Davis, 60-years-old, of Detroit, has been formally charged in connection with a fatal hit and run car crash that killed Gerald Massey, 41-years-old, of Detroit. Malcolm Lewis Davis

On April 9th, 2019 at approximately 12:14 a.m., Davis was driving his vehicle westbound on Puritan at Lindsay Street in Detroit. It is alleged that Davis disregarded a stop sign and the victim, traveling on a motorcycle northbound on Lindsay, struck the vehicle. It is alleged that Malcolm Davis fled the scene in the vehicle.

Police and EMS arrived at the scene. Medics transported Gerald Massey to a local hospital for treatment, where he was pronounced dead.

An investigation by Detroit Police led to the arrest of Malcolm Davis.

Davis has been charged with Failure to Stop at the Scene of an Accident, a five year felony. He was arraigned in 36th District Court and his Probable Cause Conference is scheduled for May 1, 2019 at 8:30 a.m.: his Preliminary Examination is scheduled for May 7, 2019 before Judge William McConico.
