Downtown Detroit Fatal Drunk Driver Pleads Guilty

DETROIT, MI – The man who drove drunk and killed a retired Sterling Heights police sergeant in downtown Detroit pled guilty today, Tuesday April 22nd, 2019.Jimi Pierowich

Jimi Pierowich pled guilty today to Operating While Intoxicated Causing Death with a sentence agreement of 42 months to 15 years prison.

Pierowich, 30-years-old, of Detroit, was charged in connection with a fatal car crash that killed Daryl Y. Brown, 50-years-old, of Warren, in downtown Detroit.

On Friday December 21st, 2018, at approximately 2:15AM, Daryl Brown was attempting to cross East Jefferson Avenue near Beaubien with a relative. As they were in they were in the processes of crossing the street, it is alleged that Jimi Pierowich was driving his car under the influence of alcohol when he struck Daryl Brown with his vehicle.

Sentencing is scheduled for May 21, 2019 at 9:00 a.m. before Judge Mariam Bazzi.
